Greetings in the name of Jesus!

Mark and Kay Bojovic, missionaries to africa helping orphans and developing youth leaders. We are so excited for the vision God has given us for this year! The vision is this: To see dramatic change in the spiritual maturity of our CarePoint youth leaders and teachers.
As we look forward to this new 2009 year, we are expecting God to move in bigger ways! The relationships that we have built with the youth leaders and teachers are so valuable that we wouldn’t trade them for anything!

Just last night we received a phone call from a girl in panic and crying so hard telling us that she just broke her leg. After we calmed her down, we found out it was one of our Logoba youth leaders, Nomvuyo. Side Note: Just three weeks ago we had moved to a house that is only ten minutes away from our CarePoints, allowing us be more local and closer to them. Last night’s phone call made us thank God again for leading us closer to where we minister regardless of the heat and mosquitoes.

We drove to Nomvuyo’s house and saw that the outside of her right shin was badly hurt. I asked Nomvuyo’s mom for any kind of oil that she had in her house so that we can anoint her and pray for her healing. She hesitantly brought out her small bottle of cooking oil and let me know that it was all that she had (reminds us of Elijah and the poor widow in 1 Kings 17:8-16 where the widow gave of the very little that she had and she was blessed for it). We anointed her leg with the oil and prayed for her healing.

We then drove Nomvuyo and her mother to the nearest hospital emergency room. About an hour and a half later, Nomvuyo was given a bandage wrap and pain tablets and was told to ice the injured area and that she should come back the next morning to get an x-ray and see the doctor. That was all that happened on Sunday night, and Nomvuyo still could not walk or put any pressure on her leg without severe pain.

Monday morning, we again picked up Nomvuyo and her mom and drove them to the hospital right at 8 AM when the nurses supposedly start seeing people. By 9:30 the nurses made their way out of their “break-room/cafeteria” and numbered the people. Nomvuyo was number 59. By 12 noon Nomvuyo saw a nurse and was told to get into the x-ray line. This line was only an hour long. After this, she was to bring her x-rays to the doctor (another line to wait in). The doctor was on lunch break from 2-3. By 4:30 in the afternoon, Nomvuyo finally finished seeing the doctor and was told that there were no broken bones – praise God! She was given some medicine for the pain and inflammation.

Throughout Sunday evening and Monday while we were with Nomvuyo and her mom, we had great opportunities to minister to them. Nomvuyo’s mom’s faith greatly grew by seeing how we decided to pray before we took her to the hospital. Both of them believe that the bone was broken but was healed because of our praying. We believe this, too! Also, we were able to bless this household of seven (Nomvuyo, mother, father, three brothers, and one older sister) with a large container of cooking oil as well as some other pantry essentials.

Prayer, Healing, and Faith - Mother and Daughter at Swaziland Hospital with Kay

The best part of this whole story, which ties in to the great relationship we have with our youth leaders, is this: When Nomvuyo first hurt her leg, she came hopping home screaming bloody murder convinced that she had broken her leg. After asking her mom to help her, her mom said that they couldn’t afford to take her to the hospital – they didn’t even have enough money for pain tablets. That’s when Nomvuyo said with a loving assurance, “That’s OK, I’ll just call my mother and father.” And that’s when she phoned us.

Please continue praying for Nomvuyo’s recovery as well as for her family’s financial situation. We want to be there for them in any way possible. Also, please continue praying for us, that we may bring the good news of Jesus Christ to the nation of Swaziland in a real, loving, and authentic way – the way that Jesus had intended it.

Thank You!
